Joseph Ramsawak, MA

Interdisciplinary Researcher,
Human-Centered Design

ABOUT, CURRENT INTERESTS, CV

I’m a seasoned design research practitioner with 10 years of experience leading decision-relevant research, shepherding multidisciplinary teams and executive leaders through empathy-focused human-centered design strategy. I’ve worked with category leaders in a range of industries, including gaming, journalism, fashion, home electronics and appliances, telecommunications, entertainment, and more, and chances are high you’ve used a product I worked on, whether it’s in your home, on your person, in your phone, or what you do on the weekend.

As technology evolves toward a critical inflection point, I’m more concerned with the social impact of technology on micro- and macro-economics, and how my time can be used in service of the social good and of humanity. I’m interested in solving big problems, with and without technology, for individuals, and for communities. As a human-centered design practitioner, I’m excited about opportunities for social impact design, startup incubation, policy initiatives, and up-leveling research maturity. As a scholar of psychology and design, I am pursuing parallel paths of design innovation and human transformation.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dartmouth College, a Master of Arts Degree in Design Research from the School of Visual Arts. En route to a lifelong goal of obtaining a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Lifestyle Medicine at the University of Thessaly to augment my approach to personal change and clinical practice, and to incubate design innovation concepts for this meaningful work. I am currently based in Crete, the southernmost island of Greece,  and welcome new design research, consulting, and coaching clients worldwide.
